Apple has made the televsion ad for the new “Pods Unite” promotion available on their site. The promotion offers Volkswagen Beetle buyers an iPod with a custom installation kit, a US$100 Apple Store coupon plus a lot of other cool stuff like free music.

“Pods Unite” is an absolute gem of an ad. In 15 seconds it makes you realize how wonderful the world can be, especially when it includes a few beautifully-designed, simply functional (state of the art and profitable, of course) objects. This is advertising at its very best – and I sure hope it is where they take the G5 ads.

Great VW/ipod ad. But don’t stop there. Go see the VW site. Coolest interactive flash advertising/info site ever! Made me seriously consider buying a new Beetle, then i regained control of my senses : ). And check out the link to VW’s internet radio station within the flash presentation. Only negative was that it launched Internet Explorer instead of Safari to display the name of the song playing.
Okay… how are the hooking up tghe iopd in the VW. There appears to be a mount that has a Apple firewire cord dangling from the bottom of the iPod. Is the iPod playing via a Belkin adapter and a cassette? Or do they have it directly hooked into the VW stereo?
I am very disappointed!!!

1) It takes up a cup holder and the lighter
2) IT CONNECTS VIA THE CASSETTE PLAYER AND THE AUDIO JACK IN THE iPOD!!!!
it will work with any car not just the Beetle.
Agreed that the ad is terrific. Too bad they didn’t get the song onto the iTunes music store!
