The newest Apple retail store will open in Tokyo’s Shibuya district on Saturday, August 6 at 10:00 a.m. The Apple Store Shibuya will be Apple’s second retail location in Tokyo and the fourth in Japan, joining the Apple Store Ginza and stores in Osaka and Nagoya.
“Shibuya’s vibrant shopping district is the perfect setting for an Apple retail store,” said Ron Johnson, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail in the press release. “We’re thrilled to open our second store in Tokyo, where the Apple Store Ginza has been an incredible hit with customers.”
The hands-on Apple store experience provides visitors with a chance to test-drive Apple’s entire product line including the wildly popular iPod family for both Mac and PC, as well as the full line of Apple notebooks and desktop computers.
Features of the new Apple Store Shibuya include:
• two floors where customers can shop for and learn about the latest Apple products and solutions, including dedicated sections for music, movies and photography;
• the Genius Bar, one of the most popular sections of the Apple retail store, where visitors can ask a Mac Genius questions or receive product service;
• a software selection with hundreds of titles for the Mac; and
• a Kids section devoted to educational software and games for the store’s youngest visitors.
To celebrate the launch of the iTunes Music Store in Japan, Apple is hosting live music performances throughout August at all four retail locations in Japan. Live performances at the Apple Store Shibuya include Def Tech on Sunday, August 7 at 8:00 p.m., Zazen Boys on Wednesday, August 10 at 1:00 p.m. and Straightener on Wednesday, August 31 at 8:00 p.m.

Apple promised they’d be working harder in Japan during the last conference call. It sounds like they weren’t kidding.
This is simply delightful. WELCOME JAPAN!
Totally psyched. I think I am gonna go to the opening. I have heard that they will also be opening stores in Fukuoka and Sendai. So far I have hit the Nagoya and Ginza Stores. I really think Apple should start selling T Shirts Ala Hard Rock Café and have “Apple Store – Ginza” etc on them. I would go for getting them all (at least the Japanese ones

Shibuya! The district chock full of love hotels on every corner and populated by trendy kogals. I have no doubt the Shibuya store will be very well just because of the blazing hot cool quotient there.
