  1. Now, on a different note. Let’s use this relatively unexciting news about Logic Express to speculate on other things. Who thinks Apple will replace the Mach kernel with something else in Leopard? If so, what will that something else be? I think that they will because from what I have read, the Mach kernel is the reason for the slow I/O in OS X (compared to Linux, for example). However, I don’t think this is the reason why Avie jumped ship. I don’t think he’s that emotionally tied to Mach despite having developed it.

75 days until the Leopard preview!

    (Thank you Countdown widget!)

  2. I would have to disagree with you about how tied Avie is to the Mach kernel.. Word is that him have Linus have had words cauze L-Torv thinks the Mach is wack. Avie nearly dropped him.

Why did I become ghetoo alla the sudden?

  3. The Cubert post above is not me. I don’t know who posted that. The other 2 posts are from me.

    The Other Steve,
You are right, it would be all under the hood stuff, but faster I/O (input/output) would make everything in the OS faster.

I’ve decided (and declared here) that hijacking a thread is OK when it is about something as boring as a “dot update”, like this one is. I don’t think MDN would mind either. It will make for a better discussion forum, overall.

  4. Congrats, Cubert!

I think we could use some Logic Express to for so many quick fallacies in these threads.

Why do they swab the prisoner’s arm with alcohol just before administering a lethal injection? Fear of an infection within three minutes and a post-mortem lawsuit?
