“The Apple Watch 2 speculated to be revealed this year may have gesture controls making it possible to control the smartwatch with a few quick, specific finger movements including some sign languages,” Agamoni Ghosh reports for International Business Times. “Using the sign language method, the paired iPhone will be able to recognise signs and convert them to spoken or written language.”
“The patent filing details a lot of gestures such as pointing, waving and even extending the pinky and thumb in a ‘phone me’ gesture that could all be used to initiate actions on either the Watch or the paired iPhone,” Ghosh reports. “Turning your palm-down and patting can decline an incoming phone call, lifting or dropping your palm could raise or lower the speaker volume and waving your hand sideways in front of you could turn a page in an ebook.”

MacDailyNews Take: Apple Watch. You haven’t seen anything yet!
Sounds good. Apps on the watch so far are nice but not WOW. A watch that would let me talk with Marlee maitlan would be great. I’m still hoping for the Apple Watch health that monitors pulse blood pressure and blood glucose levels.
It’s not the watch that’s holding those two tests back but the sensors. Blood pressure exists for wrist measurement but have you seen how wide and bulky the strap is? Not gonna happen for daily use.
Glucose still needs actual blood sample. Best I have seen is not available in the US yet. Freestyle Libre. Search it. Big step forward.
Blood pressure and glucose. (Anti) killer apps, so to speak.
Yes, more personal bio-monitoring capabilities. People want to maintain and analyze their own health database history. There are a lot of data junkies out there just waiting for this.
Offer a desktop application that pulls the data from the cloud for further statistical analysis, charting, mapping, etc. For example, map all locations where my blood pressure exceeded 160.
These data would strengthen your case by supplying empirical evidence as to why it is unsafe for you to visit your mother-in-law’s house.
Was just going to say passenger seat of…
Owing to the GI tract’s importance for healthy immune status maybe Apple will develop the iSuppository to monitor GI flora for Apple fanboys, assess stool consistency, body temperature, and flatulence levels.
That’s a remarkable statement from what I had assumed was a garden-variety troll. Did you have training in Medicine, perhaps Nursing? The analogies are very funny. Actually, Apple fanboys (and fangirls) are more precisely defined by their psychological propensities, which can admittedly lead to GI disorders when reading about how, despite financial evidence, the Apple is rotten and those biting into it become sick, delirious, and eventually poverty-stricken because of the inevitable failure of the brand under Tim Cook, destroyer of value. Excuse me, I think I need to throw up.
Back in 1988 Apple produced the ‘Future Shock’ video. Which shows their concept of future computers. Notice that the main actress is wearing a white wristband with an Apple logo, and she uses this to communicate with her computer and the computer could even recognize hand gestures for writing in the air.
I believe that the Apple watch will eventually become an accessory to the Mac as well as to the iPHone.
I am amazed at the insight that Apple had back in 1988. This video shows things that have only recently become available (curved screens, virtual assistants, voice and gensture recognition, computer controlled scale, video conferencing, etc.
Good observation.
I’ll believe it when I see it. The Watch can’t reliably measure my heart rate at present, lets get the basics down first Apple.
Wonder how different it will be from Project Soli that Google has been working on for almost a year.. http://www.engadget.com/2015/05/29/atap-project-soli/
