14 Apple Watch apps you’ll want to use

“What’s a shiny new Apple Watch without some cool apps for it?” Jonny Evans asks for Computerworld.

“Anyone who understands technology will know that while Apple may have created the Apple Watch, it will be developers who truly make it ‘smart,'” Evans writes. “Developers will be the people who create solutions that mean a few seconds’ exposure to the connected intelligence on our wrists may make a positive difference to our lives.”

“There’s a huge amount of activity going on already, so things look interesting,” Evans writes. “Here are just a few apps you’ll want to use if you buy yourself an Apple Watch.”

14 Apple Watch apps you’ll want to use:
• Apple Workout
• Evernote
• Babbel
• City Mapper
• Redfin
• Instagram
• Salesforce
• Retale
• The Guardian
• Mint
• Starwood Hotels

  1. As a Golfshot GPS user, it gets annoying to pull out my iPhone 6 to find the yardage to the pin. So several weeks ago I emailed the company that makes it and they confirmed they are developing an app for the Apple Watch that permits you to see your yardage to the pin much easier. I’m assuming your phone would still need to be in your pocket given the watch does not have GPS. This would be an app I would want.

    1. In your pocket OR in your cart/caddie. Keep in mind that low-information Apple-haters will not be pleased having to carry their iPhones “in their pockets.” Heavy, heavy! Bulky, bulky!

    2. Ditto. I use GolfCardGPS app. Carrying the phone isn’t the issue. But outside of putting I pull the phone out, unlock it overtime I take shot, and then I pull it out again to record my score. So, for me that’s a minimum 65 pocket pulls per round. I will swap apps to get one that has Apple Watch support. My main concern is that with the app I’m using I’ve got it set to shut down the GPS radios when the phone goes to sleep. On my 5S if the GPS is running constantly it will almost kill the phone over a 4.5 hour round. It would be nice if the Apple Watch app would fire up the phone’s GPS only when your checking distance.
