Apple improves App Store discovery with related search suggestions

“Apple quietly introduced a new “related search” suggestion feature on the iTunes App Store, which began rolling out yesterday to iPhone users on iOS 7 devices,” Sarah Perez reports for TechCrunch.

“The addition involves showing a user who is searching for a particular keyword in the App Store other search terms that may also be useful,” Perez reports. “For example, a search for ‘calendar’ may offer similar suggestions like ‘calendar planner’ or ‘daily planner.’

Perez reports, “When a user taps the suggested term or terms, the App Store kicks off a new search for the specified keywords… Apple [has] confirmed to us that the new feature will be available to all users by later this week.”

  1. I’d be happy if any of my apps showed up when searched for by their exact titles. Apps that don’t even have any of the search terms in their names show up first in the list, and you have to scroll to see my apps even though the title is an exact match for the search.
