“Less than 12 hours after initial release, Google Chrome is the number one free application on the iOS App Store,” Electronista reports.
“The new Webkit-based browser app supports the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, and requires iOS 4.3 or greater,” Electronista reports. “The iOS version shares its features with the desktop versions, which are available for Mac, Windows and Linux.”
Electronista reports, “Ironically, the iOS version of Chrome is available to a far wider percentage of iOS units than the just-released Android version, which requires Android 4.0 and thus only runs on about seven percent of current Android devices.”

Google demos Chrome web browser for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch – June 28, 2012
Why?
Ditto.
Tritto. It’s beyond comprehension how Google now has such a flock of sheep that are willing to give up every iota of privacy so Google can sell your data to whoever pays the bux.
It’s also beyond comprehension how so many people feel that the absolutely “need” whatever crapola Google puts out there.
Boycott Google. Google is evil.
Quadritto. (I agree whole heartedly, who wants their personal information dispensed to the highest bidder[s]?) but my main reason is… I’ve always wanted to use the word quadritto.
Quintitto. You got it, Indentured1. Now step right up and take a swing at that awesome word representing the sixth iteration, the word I shall not name here. 🙂
Cheetos, I like me some Safari!
Chrome has always been a shitastic browser on the Mac, why would I use it on my iOS devices?
Because, believe it or not, there are still some websites which are not Safari friendly (annoying but true). Even mor annoying many of them are government sites. When I run into them now, I have an alternative. Simple as that.
Terrible in the iPhone. Tested and removed on day one. Slow, sluggish, ugly.
Can’t blame them for the speed, that’s on Apple. Because of the way the App Store rules are written, they can’t include their own rendering engine, so it’s basically just a skin for Safari. On top of that, it doesn’t even have access to the Nitro javascript engine that Safari does.
So, with the current implementation of the rules, it will never be as fast as Safari, let alone faster.
Now, the ugly thing, you can chastise them all you want.
I cannot imagine why I would want Chrome on my iPhone or iPad. Goggle already has far too much information on me and my online habits; I don’t feel the need to invite them to know everything through what is hardly more than spyware.
same here.
Anything google… I stay away from.
And from what I read yesterday safari and chrome are both using the same code (web kit) except chrome can’t use the nitro part of safari… And google even said it would be slower.
Chrome doesn’t get any space on any of my stuff, macs or iOS.
Nah. I think my browsing needs are satisfied with Safari (which is much better on an iOs device than on the desktop).
NFW.
This is completely unnecessary. There is no benefit , promised or delivered.
It’s good on the iPad “3”. Nothing wrong with choices kids…
Depressing to know just how many utterly clueless idiots are out there. Scary!
I’m sure it will drop off the list in a couple of weeks. Many people are going to download and try it just out of curiosity more than any need.
But make sure your bank account info isn’t stored in your iPhone before opening up Chrome . . . .
Boycotting Google because they do evil.
Boycotting Gevil because they do ogle.
Hey, it’s free. But I won’t be bothering as I already have two superior iOS browsers: iCab and Dolphin. I’m also not interested in Google user surveillance.

That’s fragmentation for ya! 😉
But it’s open fragmentation! Anyone can add to the miscellaneous flotsam and jetsom that is Andyroid.
Hahahaha Open fragmentation. So that everyone can have least common denominator software. Great. 🙂 /s
What I need is access and edit gmail contact groups on iOS, but I don’t find it here… 🙁
