Apple’s magical iPad became officially available in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore on July 23rd after becoming available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK on May 28th. iPad Wi-Fi + 3G models debuted in US on April 30. iPad Wi-Fi-only models launched in US on April 3. iPad will roll out to many more countries later this year and Apple will announce availability and local pricing for these additional countries at a later date.

IMO, Al is a lot closer to reality than are you, TowerTone. You somehow believe that veneration and slavish commitment to a single political platform will somehow solve every ill, despite the fact that it has demonstrably and repeatedly failed to do so in the past. The GOP mantra is not the source of all good, and the Democratic mantra is not the source of all evil. Each viewpoint has its strengths and weaknesses. Debates and actions that are truly bipartisan tend to incorporate the best aspects of both systems.
A substantial subset of U.S voters have become polarized near the radical ends of the political spectrum. The result is paralyzing mutual obstructionism in the legislative branch of government and an inability to take proactive measures for the long term well-being of this country in areas such as deficit control, tax reform, alternative energy, robust power grid, nationwide high bandwidth wireless services, space exploration, food production, medicine, worldwide population control, welfare reform, etc.

I had never quite made that exact connection – Iraq as a modern political/religious crusade. It is all too apt, and that is frightening, because that sentiment also explains the recent Ground Zero religious controversy in a society theoretically based on freedom of religion.
When the individual rights guaranteed by the great Constitution of this country are subverted by people who believe that a majority vote is and should be sufficient to abridge those rights, then this country is nearing a fundamental crisis of identity. The whole idea of the Constitution is that differences of speech and action, within reasonable limits, are protected. The breakdown of the separation of church and state through W’s “faith-based initiatives” is enabling the federalization of a single, exclusivist belief system that does not tolerate or acknowledge alternatives or significant variations to be valid. And, yet, that very belief system has evolved significantly over hundreds of years.

that’s odd, because first you would need to define ‘moderate’, and then in what context.
Forty years ago, I would have been considered left of center by many.
Thirty years ago, I would have been called a conservative Democrat.
Twenty years ago, a Republican.
All with the same basic outlook. So what you may consider ‘moderate’ may be too conservative or liberal for many others.
Rather than looking at everything being ‘moderate’ (diluted), why not take the individual concerns and see which approach works best?
It is no secret that the denser the population of an area, the more liberal the approach to solutions usually are. This is a fundamental truth in civilizations.
On a national level, many programs are better run by a Conservative approach, and some with a Liberal idea. But when you dilute any idea with too much give and take just to be ‘middle of the road’, then you lose a lot of the intent just to satisfy some politically.
So, no, I am no fan of moderation across the board just to hear the children sing coombaya, but real answers to problems to get them fixed.

I like that she and Todd have been able to stay married all these years. Don’t know how much longer that will last and it would be a shame if it ended.

I have been given the choice of believing that she quit the Governorship either because she wanted to make a mint off book sales and speaking, or that she really was bogged down in petty lawsuits that were taking away from her work.
Of course, the fact that she was a mayor and a governor while still being married to a man that worked away from home while they were raising kids says a lot about her, too.
Now, what do these have to do with being President? Nothing.
I’m not rooting for her to do that. I know she probably will, but I prefer she keep on pushing the Conservative agenda on Republican candidates as a way to hold their feet to the fire. One of the main arguments I hear from the left is how the right didn’t care about deficit spending until Obama was elected. This isn’t entirely true, and not all of the spending was avoidable, although much of it could be rolled back once the troops are (mostly) back from the “Crusades”.
Now, how about what I don’t like about her?
I get tired of the cliche answers and gosh-darn determinations that blah-blah-blah has. I get it. She is a cheerleader for the right and gets many of them thinking about what is ignored or taken for granted. I enjoy hearing her speak off-script.
I also hate that she gave up the governship, even if she is telling the truth about why. I don’t hold that against her (who the Hell am I?) and she wouldn’t be able to have this affect on elections, so it is a bitter pill to swallow.
But on the other hand, she has a great body…..

Well, a lot of people are not sleeping under roofs tonight because of Democrats… and if the Dems really, truly cared for the passionate progressive liberals they are when touting that they are for the ‘common man’ regarding what went on and why their house is now foreclosed they would have addressed Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac and Franklin Rains and investigate Barney Frank and his posse… but, their hands are too far down in the cookie jar to actually do something moral and right!

Not to mention spending all that money on Cash for Clunkers, a 1 Trillion Dollar Stimulus that failed, the excessive hiring of government employees that are paid higher wages/benefits then those with similar jobs in the private sector who are taxed to pay the gov’t employee wages/benefits in the first place, Winterize your home, get a tax credit that will take a lifetime in meager energy savings to recoup what was spent for that tax credit in the first place, Health Care and other programs whose cost will be saddled upon your great-grandchildren when those costs explode!
So, talk to the hand C1, I’d actually listen if we didn’t have a THREE TRILLION DOLLAR budget that spends money on such worth while things like mid-night basketball, windows to a visitor center that’s hardly utilized, save the smelt fish – screw the farmers, Ted Kennedy’s “The Big Dig”, the over budget, and past due Washington DC Visitor Center so Democratic Senator Harry Reid doesn’t have to worry about the “Smelly People”, Democratic Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s government jet wasn’t big enough, the House Bank and the House Post Office, the Air Force asks for three jets, Congress budgets for the purchase of 5, etc, etc, etc.
Yeah, our government has always been REAL concerned about the money woes it laid upon future generations! What budget cuts did this administration make outside of defense? You know, the one thing that is spoken about in the Constitution that is the responsibility of this government. When has any government program gone without. In Washington, if you make less then what your budget requested but is more then last years budget, it’s a cut! Imagine that!! So it seems we have ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD… and you need not worry about your Great-Grandchildren Chrissy because the government is hard at work solving all the problems that somewhere down the line, they created in the first place.
Oh wait, the government will save over $100,000 in eight years of paperclips and other office supplies savings. $100,000 savings out of a 3,000,000,000 budget

Of course, Sarah whored herself AFTER doing something, versus, the POS who quit his IL Senate gig and went to DC, and who wrote not one but two books about himself before doing anything!

I bet nearly all of the Tea Party critics have never been to an event.
If they went they would have seen a bunch of old people, a surprising number of people of color, and a lot of americans who came from Eastern European countries who know first hand what it’s like to live in a statist country.
If they went they would have seen a lot of polite, gracious people with families who cleaned up after themselves, in order words…nothing at all like what the news media and MSNBC portrays.
This fictitious representation of the tea party people is backfiring against the far left and will be one of the reasons for a massive November rout.
Who cares, I been to the poorest country in this world and I saw even poor people got ipads, now who cares about this king carrying iPad.

Actually, the Hillarycare talks, as you (TowerTone) mockingly put it, had a major effect on the insurance companies. Prior to those “talks,” Health insurance had been skyrocketing, one company I dealt with had theirs go up 50% per year until then. After that, it held steady or even went down for a number of years, until recently. Now, they own both political parties, and can raise their rates as high as they want. Plus, with the delightful addition of millions of forced new customers to charge them into poverty.
We are not a capitalist system, we are a corporatist system. There’s a major difference.

Not sure who the insurance companies are you speak of.
In the early 90’s I had coverage through our group plans either with Brown and Root or the I.B.E.W. then switched to my wife’s BC/BS at her job (after I quit the union), then in the latter 90’s switched it to my
job’s BC/BS (when wife became ex-wife).
I don’t recall my rates going through the roof. Actually, they were cheaper than the HMO I had used in Virginia in the mid-late 80’s, Kaiser Permanente, which I see as bad role model for socialized medicine where everybody pays a flat fee for unlimited visits while a board decides how to manage cost.
These are just my experiences, I know others could vary (all 5 of us were pretty healthy). Also, the discussion wasn’t about insurance, but the so-called ‘civility of moderation’ that some thought was going on at that time in Congress.
In addition, “Hillarycare” is a term coined almost 15 years ago to describe the system being devised at the time.
