“Telefonica’s O2 and Apple Inc. will be making a joint announcement in the ‘coming weeks,’ prompting speculation that the U.S. firm is set to announce a new [next]-generation model of its iPhone,” Kate Holton reports for Reuters.
“Matthew Key, chief executive of Telefonica O2 Europe, told reporters on a conference call after his group’s results that Telefonica and Apple would make a joint statement over the coming weeks but he declined to say whether it would be about 3G iPhones,” Holton reports.

This is the same as we’ve heard from everywhere else. Information to come later in the year. typical Apple suspense building. I just hope it’s not too much later.
Kind of a no brainer.
Everybody knows 3G iPhone is coming… let’s try instead to speculate on the unexpected. iTablet anyone???
So on June 9th Apple does a press release and as the Exclusive partners do a joint press release on the release and availability of the new G3 iPhone.
Which is in the time frame “in the coming weeks”.
This doesn’t seem to be much in the ‘news’ category. Its kind of like reporting about MS Vista problems.

build up all the hype.. I am enjoying my apple stock lately. When the new phone is released I’ll be owning it. 😀
Why would this Apple/O2 announcement be the 3G iPhone? Apple would announce with the other phone carriers as well, wouldn’t it?
Could this announcement be WWDC, as that is in a few weeks?
@jtc
I’m waiting to see AAPL close above $203.00 than I’ll be happy because that will break the trader’s psychological cap on APPL at less then $200.00. Once AAPL closes above $200 and better yet closes at a record high then the high wall moves from $200.00 to $250.00 expect the price targets to jump a lot higher too.
It would be great for Apple to release another product (new laptops?) out of nowhere at WWDC. The attention is all on the 3G iPhone – would be a good way to pull something out of thin air while nobody is expecting it, which has been difficult for Apple now that they are receiving so much attention.
It may sound silly, but I wish Apple would redefine a wifi iPhoto digital picture frame
for $99. These things are starting to catch on and by Christmas will be selling like hotcakes. They are a perfect Christmas gift and stocking stuffer.
All the ingredients are already right up Apple’s alley for a low end consumer product that will be in every household in a year or two. Sounds pretty boring and unrrevolutionary, yet a digital picture frame is a perfect add-on to all Apple’s product line. I just expect Apple to make theirs cooler than everyone else’s. iPhoto wifi sync. You simply can’t watch TV and a picture slideshow at the same time.
yeah…but when can the iphone be used with other cell providers…Tmobile to be exact!
