“Online retailer, Amazon, is preparing to debut a new store focusing on sales of Apple’s iPod and related products. Amazon.com, a major online retailer and Apple Authorized Reseller, is reportedly in the process or launching an iPod Store that will be accessible in time for the holidays, sources tell AppleInsider. The store, which will exist as a subdivision of the Amazon.com Web site, is expected to market all flavors of the iPods, in addition to dozens of accessories for both the iPod and iPod mini,” Kasper Jade reports for AppleInsider.
Amazon representatives confirmed an Amazon iPod store and supplied AppleInsider with links to a promotional advertisement and lto the Amazon iPod Store itself. Links can be found in the full article here.
Holy Smokes! Good luck competitors. The ipod has crushed you with no hope for survival! Amazon sees the writing on the wall and they want their own set of crayons.
ME FIRST>>LOL WE want DellDJ’s not iPods… Yeah right.
Dang foiled agian.
Like I don’t own enough iPod products already! But they all look so absolutely necessary when they’re grouped together like that.
No good for me in the land of Oz. Still waiting for iTunes Store. Apple Oz you listening. Hello!!!!! Lights are on but nobody home. Oh dear, maybe by Xmas 2004-8.
Chapters/Indigo (our Canadian book chain) recently updated their site (http://www.chapters.ca), which included a tab just for iPod related products. I sense a trend here…
And why doesn’t this also include an iTunes store within the Amazon.com store? For simplicity really, it would be nice to shop for both items in one place.
Ken, I just saw Chapters pushing full page color newspaper ads with the ipod and audible books. Yes, there is definitely a trend here. Man, it must be depressing working in the design departments of the other “ipod killers”.
The ‘iPod Juggernaut’ continues to roll, crushing the competition…
and *everybody* is wanting to help it along! Amazing.
I really am glad that Apple has *the* hot product right now; it is infusing Apple with cash. This is a good thing because having money allows Apple the freedom to continue “to make beautiful things” (Jon Ives).
I just hope that it lasts for a few more years. People can be pretty fickle. But then again, once people get a glimpse of the light, maybe a few hundred thousand folks will end up being Mac users for the rest of their lives.
I sure hope so.
Interesting what you say about Oz Sara. Even though Oz may not be the biggest music buying market I would have thought it has the potential to be an influential one. We all know that young Ozzies travel the world, are bright and enthusiastic people (no I’m not one!). I reckon they’d also be agood switching target marketplace.
I agree; waky waky Apple Austalia!
fandango: Dead right, people are fickle, but:
Apple, once discovered, is never lightly given up!
Go Apple. Will a music store be included eventually? I know iTunes Music store is better, easier, etc, but those skeptical of Apple products might not be skeptical of Amazon products.
Every music purchase comes with a copy of iTunes. That ought to help the distribution of Quicktime also. Apple can follow Microsoft’s viral marketing techniques, but do it in a “cool” way.
Yeah, but just wait until Microsoft opens its own online book/CD/DVD/clothing/sporting good/whatever else store. They may annouce plans to do so in the near future. Amazon will be crushed! Everyone just might as well stop using Amazon now.

Oh wow, Apple opening up the iPOD, quick get more MS FUD, Quick send Balmer to say that all ipod users are thieves or something.
Well I am sure glad that MS is not in the prostitution business. Anyone could have one, but if you did you would become infected.
