Apple's behind-the-scenes video reveals handcrafted magic inside new Mac mini commercial

Anyone watching the sleek promotional video for Apple’s newly announced Mac mini might assume the dazzling effects were created with advanced CGI or even artificial intelligence. After all, the compact desktop — powered by the M6 and M5 Pro chips — looks almost too polished to be real.

A newly shared making-of video from the Instagram account @helloapple proves otherwise. The footage shows that the entire commercial was crafted through meticulous hands-on work – old school – directed by art director Josh Mahan.

Nearly every key element was built and manipulated by hand. This includes a detailed miniature of the Mac mini itself, along with various attachments designed to visually showcase the machine’s impressive performance. Specialized tools were used throughout the process to bring the miniature world to life, resulting in a fluid, eye-catching animation that highlights both the product’s design and its power.

The behind-the-scenes look offers a refreshing reminder of the craftsmanship that still goes into Apple’s marketing, even in an era dominated by digital effects. It’s a charming, practical approach that tech enthusiasts and video editors are sure to appreciate.
