Katey Sagal joins Elizabeth Banks, Ted Danson in untitled Apple TV comedy series

Apple won in the Comedy, Documentary and Commercial categories at the 78th Annual Directors Guild Awards.

Katey Sagal has joined the cast of the untitled Apple TV comedy series from Liz Heldens and Matt Ward, Variety has learned exclusively.

She will star alongside previously announced lead Elizabeth Banks, as well as Ted Danson and Rob Delaney.

The logline for the show states, “Fresh off a messy divorce, Heidi (Banks) sets out to secure a lively second act for herself and her kids. But when she stumbles into coordinating her father’s (Danson) retirement community sexcapades, Heidi is forced into an unlikely alliance with his girlfriend’s perpetually single son.”

“Sagal will play Mavis, described as Heidi’s dad’s new girlfriend.

Sagal recently appeared in Season 2 of the Netflix live-action version of “One Piece” as Dr. Kureha. Other recent roles include “The Conners,” “Rebel,” “The Abandons,” “Shameless,” and “Superior Donuts.” She is also known for her Golden Globe-winning role in the FX series “Sons of Anarchy” as well as her roles in the hit shows “Futurama” and “Married…With Children.” In film, she is known for starring in features like Trust,” “Bleed for This,” “Pitch Perfect 2” and “The Good Mother.”
