In a significant recognition of Apple’s growing influence in the entertainment world, Senior Vice President of Services and Health Eddy Cue has been selected as the 2026 Cannes Lions Entertainment Person of the Year. The award will be presented next month during the prestigious Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, running from June 22 to 26, 2026.

Cannes Lions, which honors excellence in creative work, advertising, and talent across the global marketing and communications industry, praised Cue for “shaping the future of entertainment through groundbreaking storytelling and innovation.” The award specifically acknowledges individuals whose creativity inspires compelling, meaningful, and entertaining content.

Building Apple’s Entertainment Empire

Cue has played a pivotal role in developing Apple’s expansive services ecosystem, which includes Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple Books, Apple News, Fitness+, and more. Under his leadership, Apple TV — launched just over six years ago as a fully original streaming platform — has quickly become one of the most critically acclaimed services in the industry.

For five consecutive years, Apple TV has held the top spot for the highest critically rated slate of original programming among all streaming services. Hits like Severance, The Morning Show, Silo, Shrinking, and The Studio have not only earned awards but also helped define modern television.

Simon Cook, CEO of Cannes Lions, highlighted Cue’s impact in a statement:

In addition to receiving the award, Cue will deliver a keynote seminar on June 22. He’ll be joined by legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer, whose recent Apple project F1 The Movie has generated significant buzz.

This honor comes as Apple continues to rack up accolades at Cannes Lions. The company previously earned Creative Marketer of the Year honors in 2019 and 2025, along with Grand Prix wins for campaigns like “Shot on iPhone.”

Eddy Cue’s recognition underscores Apple’s successful evolution from a hardware company to a major force in entertainment and services. With Services now representing a massive and highly profitable segment of Apple’s business, Cue’s vision has helped diversify revenue streams while delivering high-quality experiences that keep users deeply engaged with the Apple ecosystem.
