At the dawn of 2026, Apple TV+’s recently canceled thriller “The Last Frontier” is defying expectations by maintaining a strong presence on the platform’s global streaming charts. Despite Apple abruptly axing the Jason Clarke-led series after its single season concluded in December 2025, the show — centered on a U.S. Marshal facing chaos after a prison plane crash in remote Alaska — continues to captivate audiences worldwide, proving that cancellation doesn’t always mean the end of a show’s momentum.
As of Jan. 6, per FlixPatrol, “The Last Frontier,” from creators Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio, is the No. 2 most-watched television series on Apple TV worldwide.
The Last Frontier debuted its first and only season in October 2025. The show has a 48% Rotten Tomatoes critic score and a 51% audience score. Apple TV abruptly canceled the series following its Season 1 finale in December 2025.
The show, in spite of its poor reviews, had been a ratings hit for Apple TV. The cast of The Last Frontier, in addition to Clarke, included [Haley Bennett], Simone Kessell, Dallas Goldtooth, Tait Blum, and Alfre Woodard.
