Lisa Jackson, vice president for Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives, will retire in late January 2026. The Government Affairs organization will transition to Kate Adams, who has served as Apple’s general counsel since 2017, who will oversee the team until her retirement late next year, after which it will be led by Jennifer Newstead who will become Apple’s general counsel on March 1, 2026. Newstead’s title will become senior vice president, General Counsel and Government Affairs, reflecting the combining of the two organizations. The Environment and Social Initiatives teams will report to Apple chief operating officer Sabih Khan.
“I am deeply appreciative of Lisa’s contributions. She has been instrumental in helping us reduce our global greenhouse emissions by more than 60 percent compared to 2015 levels,” said Cook in a statement. “She has also been a critical strategic partner in engaging governments around the world, advocating for the best interests of our users on a myriad of topics, as well as advancing our values, from education and accessibility to privacy and security.”
“Apple is a remarkable company and it has been a true honor to lead such important work here,” said Jackson in a statement. “I have been lucky to work with leaders who understand that reducing our environmental impact is not just good for the environment, but good for business, and that we can do well by doing good. And I am incredibly grateful to the teams I’ve had the privilege to lead at Apple, for the innovations they’ve helped create and inspire, and for the advocacy they’ve led on behalf of our users with governments around the world. I have every confidence that Apple will continue to have a profoundly positive impact on the planet and its people.”
MacDailyNews Take: If only that meant Apple could finally stop blowing shareholders’ money on bullshit, but they’ll likely have to wait for Tim Cook to finally free the company from his clutches for that miracle to occur.

God, I love MDN! Zero f-cks given and telling it exactly like it is for over two decades!
Same! These plain truth takes are why MDN is a must-follow.
Since when is the environment bullshit. We are ruining the planet for our kids and their kids for MAGA religious theocracy. The right wing Trump anti-science crap is destroying the planet for money. You are too fucking stupid to see this. WTF is wrong with you, when Trumpism ends we are left with a monumental task of rebuilding science which what made America great. It isn’t religious conservatism, it was progressives. Don’t need to be part of your crap goodbye.
Apple’s core mission, as articulated by Steve Jobs, centers on relentlessly advancing user-centric technology innovation—crafting “insanely great” products like the iPhone and Mac that prioritize seamless design, performance, and ecosystem integration over everything else.
Apple’s Cook-era environmental initiatives stray from this by diverting resources toward performative sustainability efforts that prioritize marketing over genuine tech breakthroughs or broader impact, often veering into greenwashing.
High-profile disasters out of Jackson’s office, like the 2023 “Mother Nature” video, emphasize metrics (e.g., recycled materials in packaging) that mask supply-chain emissions and labor issues in China, shifting focus from R&D in AI or AR to feel-good optics that achieve jack shit.
Apple’s identity as a pure innovator has been diluted, turning it into a corporate virtue-signaler, blowing shareholders’ cash on BULLSHIT instead of R&D and creating products that delight customers.
Apple has had more than enough of a virtue-signaling COO masquerading as a CEO. It needs a REAL CEO again.
btw, love that video. Subscribed.
Poor Howard is a brainwashed pawn, bless his heart.
Over his CEO tenure Tim Cook has wasted billions upon billions of shareholders’ – not his – money on “CO₂ mitigation.”
Apple’s percentage of Global Cumulative Total CO₂ offset = 0.06%.
For all of the billions of dollars Tim Cook has blown on “CO₂ mitigation” over his tenure, Apple offsets 0.06% of global emission (25–30 metric tonnes/year vs. global emissions of 41 gigatonnes/year). Plus, some of Apple’s “CO₂ mitigation” are “carbon credits,” no less. 😂
0.06% is statistically meaningless. Trivial. Even as just a marketing exercise, it’s simply a total waste of shareholders’ money.
In other words, as MDN put it so succinctly, it’s bullshit.
Carbon credits…a scheme only the truly deranged could possibly justify.
“Carbon credits” have a likeness to “indulgences.” Both serve to justify guilt/shame and effectively do nothing… but enabling living in the same–unapproved–way.
Anti-science? As in “safe and effective”, or a man can be a woman? I’m afraid that ain’t trump pal.
Fatty T wouldn’t know science if you slathered it on his hamberder. The few asshats on this forum sound like they are desperately trying to relive the 1880 robber baron era. After all, who needs to share in keeping the earth clean when you’re being led by a handful of oligarchs who watched Wall-E and decided this would be ideal?!? Gotta hurry up and rape the planet faster so you can sell more subscriptions to Mars, right?
The climate swindle has nothing at all to do with environmentalism. The carbon warming narrative is absolute bullsh!t. It’s a socialist driven, globalist run, corporate and big Tech payday. There is no climate crisis.
The only religious theocracy is that of the climate alarmists.
You are the actual science denier.
You can stop clutching those pearls now.
If the world needs to stop cows from farting, then let’s begin by sticking a cork up Lisa Jackson’s . . .
