Tesla is developing Apple CarPlay support for its vehicles in a bid to boost sales, Bloomberg News reports, citing people familiar with the effort — one of the most frequently requested features from customers. The company has already begun internal testing of the integration, according to the sources, who asked not to be named as the project remains confidential.
Mark Gurman and Edward Ludlow for Bloomberg News:
The CarPlay platform — long supported by other automakers — shows users a version of the iPhone’s software that’s optimized for vehicle infotainment systems. It’s considered a must-have option by many drivers.
Adding CarPlay would mark a stunning reversal for Tesla and Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk, who long ignored pleas to implement the popular feature.
Tesla cars rely on an in-house infotainment system, which has its own apps and features like messaging and web browsing. The company had long opposed giving Apple more access to Tesla customers — especially when the iPhone maker was angling to become a rival in electric vehicles.
But the landscape has changed. Apple bowed out of the EV race in 2024 by canceling its Titan initiative, and Musk now relies on Apple as a critical partner for distributing the X social networking app and Grok AI service. Tesla sales also have softened, with some buyers citing the lack of CarPlay support as a reason for not choosing the company’s cars.
MacDailyNews Take: No CarPlay support? No sale!
(Not that we’d ever buy a pure EV, regardless)

Not sure I believe this one but I’d be happy to see it. Our Tesla’s, (Beast & Y) run the Phone, Apple Music, Messages and Calendar without issue. Is it perfect, nope but it’s not too bad either.
What I’d really like to see is Apple collaborate with Tesla much more. Maybe this is a step in the right direction.
Lots of potential for both stocks, which I own so my bias is kinda obvious.
I want a Musk-Free, 100% electric SUV that supports Apple Car Play
Yea but what you need is mental illness help for your TDS and EDS
ALL EV’s Unsafe at any Speed!🔥🔥🔥
With or without Car Play. 🤣
The folks at MacDailyNews have their heads up their collective asses when it comes to EV’s and Tesla.
The 2026 Model Y is the best new vehicle in the market by leaps and bounds.
My new Model Y has 2,000 miles on it, of which I have only actually driven about 10 miles. Full Self Driving is real and transforms the car ownership experience. For $99 per month, I have my own personal chauffeur.
Plus, even with California’s insane electric rates, I’m spending less than half on vehicle charging than I would on gasoline for a comparable ICE vehicle.
Lastly, no smog checks, oil changes, or other engine/transmission related costs and brake pads last for 100K miles. The only maintenance is literally tires and washer fluid. This, and it’s an SUV that does 0-60MPH in 4.8 seconds!
HUA on most things, actually
The Tesla map and driving direction software is notoriously poor. Heck, it routinely calls out turn directions one or more turns too early. Apple Maps never do that. It tells you things like “pass this traffic light and turn right at the next one.”
Tesla owners in California represent 80% of Tesla’s market. Elons illegal activity in DOGE angered Californians who all Traded in their Tesla’s in protest. The number of trade ins was so high that Tesla stopped taking them. This hurt Teslas bottom line big time. Google it if you MAGA fans don’t believe me. I followed it closely while Elon was raping tax payers as DOGE FUCKED the Government.
Cry more you leftist retard. Cry more
ALL EVs, Unsafe at any Speed!🔥🔥🔥
