A Russian YouTube channel, Wylsacom, posted an apparent unboxing video today of an unannounced iPad Pro with an M5 chip. The same channel previously leaked the 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M4 chip before Apple’s official announcement last year, suggesting this is likely a credible leak.
Joe Rossignol for MacRumors:
Based on the box shown in the video, this appears to be a 13-inch iPad Pro with an M5 chip, 256GB of storage, and a Space Black finish. The new iPad Pro does not have any noticeable external design changes compared to the current models with the M4 chip, with features like a single rear camera and a Smart Connector still visible.
Based on the Geekbench 6 benchmark result shown in the video, the M5 chip offers up to 12% faster multi-core CPU performance compared to the M4 chip in the iPad Pro. Like the M4 chip, the listing shows the M5 chip has a 9-core CPU with three performance cores and six efficiency cores.
The benchmark result also shows the iPad Pro with 256GB of storage will have 12GB of RAM, just like the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. iPad Pro models with the M4 chip have only 8GB of RAM when equipped with 256GB of storage.

I don’t know if Apple cares what I want, but I am not looking to replace my MacBook Pro at this time. On the other hand, if they were to come out with a big screen iMac, I would immediately buy two of them.
M5 still not fast enough
I’m tried of making excuses as to why apple is behind intel, amd, nvidia.
the power out the wall i can get more of, time i cannot. i’m sick and tired of waiting for paint to dry and being to it’s a good thing cause i didn’t have to pay so much for the paint drying show in the cost of electricity. this is the classic give everybody a trophy just for showing up. apple lacks the killer instinct to get out in front by great bits and never look back. powerpc, intel, now apple chips, always a reason user don’t have the the fastest, but look over here we have a shiny object for you. time not power is the concern. there is no reason not to build a desktop cpu, with much, much better performance. even the OS is dragging in comparison. man. lots of work to do.stopkissingtrump’sbuttandgetonwithit.
What software do you run that needs such speed and power?
My iPad Pro (2019 model) works well with graphics apps such as Procreate, Pixelmator and so on.
