President Donald Trump vowed to initiate a trade investigation to counter what he called discriminatory penalties imposed by Europe on U.S. tech companies like Google. The statement, posted on Truth Social on Friday at 3:01 p.m. EDT, followed a nearly $3.5 billion EU antitrust fine against Google.
President Trump via Truth Social:
Europe today “hit” another great American company, Google, with a $3.5 Billion Dollar fine, effectively taking money that would otherwise go to American Investments and Jobs. This is on top of the many other Fines and Taxes that have been issued against Google and other American Tech Companies, in particular. Very unfair, and the American Taxpayer will not stand for it! As I have said before, my Administration will NOT allow these discriminatory actions to stand. Apple, as an example, was forced to pay $17 Billion Dollars in a Fine that, in my opinion, should not have been charged — They should get their money back! We cannot let this happen to brilliant and unprecedented American Ingenuity and, if it does, I will be forced to start a Section 301 proceeding to nullify the unfair penalties being charged to these Taxpaying American Companies. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

There are many reasons to dislike Trump, but there is many reasons to like him and this is one of the reasons I like him a lot. The super bureaucratic Europeans cannot penalize American companies for being successful. What the hell this bureaucrats know that Google Apple and another American companies do not know. The only thing they have succeeded so far is to create bureaucracy and make their life for many Europeans hard. Why is it that all the new companies set up their headquarters in the United States????? It is because the bureaucrats leave them alone to do what they believe is right not good. Their bureaucratic governments believe is the right thing. If a company is not doing the right thing with the people are the judges by not using their services or products. We do not need some governmental body to tell us what is right what’s wrong? What to use and what not to use.
The Europeans are penalising American companies for breaking European laws, when doing business in Europe.
I understand an American might have trouble with this concept, because it would require looking at an atlas, or indeed a book of any sort, or even learning that there are countries out there that aren’t America, or learning anything at all, but American law applies within America. Just because a company is based in America, doesn’t mean American law applies to it when it does business in another country.
I’m quite certain those laws were enacted with American companies in mind. Since the EU lacks the capability to establish its own companies, they resort to obtaining funds through fines imposed on US companies.
The laws were enacted with criminal behaviour in mind. It’s not the EU’s fault that America can’t establish an honest, law-abiding company.
You mean like Volkswagen, that intentionally hid emissions data and was fined billions … is that what you mean?
This is why I voted for him three times. We haven’t had a President who cares about our country as much as he does in a very long time. Thank you President Trump! 🫡🇺🇸
He would do better to worry about the terrible American debts, rather than trying to play as if his fiscal clumsiness could make him king of the world!
The image that the president gives of America in the world is far from making the nation ‘great’… It’s quite the opposite!
Yeah, comparatively, the previous president had a solid focus on debt and was concerned with sovereignty. The fact the currency has dropped 20% in value since ’20 and Chinese aircraft were able to lolligag across the US skies is proof to me. The most important thing is life is image…keep the image strong!
As a holder of a German drivers license I should not be forced to obey unnatural and randomly placed speed limits. Very unfair. I have been tested to drive 120 Mph and more in driving school. I should not be held to the same low standard as people who have an American drivers license only and most likely can’t even parallel park. No American police officer should have the right to pull me over or ticket me. As a holder of a German drivers license no traffic court in the US has any juristriction over me. As a free and proud citizen it should be up to me to decide which traffic laws to follow.
Pick up trucks, Subarus, Kias, Toyotas etc shall no longer clog up highways and force any Mercedes-Benz, BMW or Audi to slow down.
thank you for you attention
