Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 are set to debut- likely on September 9th – introducing a refined design and innovative features that elevate the wireless earbud experience. The upcoming earbuds promise a new touch-enabled charging case and enhanced audio performance, maintaining Apple’s signature minimalist aesthetic.
Majin Bu via MajinBu Official:
One of the key updates concerns the charging case, which, according to a well-known accessory manufacturer, was initially reported to have a slight reduction in size compared to the current model. However, after consulting with case producers, I obtained photos and dimensions of the cases, which surprisingly appear almost identical to those of previous models. Despite the initial claim, it seems there will be no significant changes in the dimensions of the AirPods Pro 3 charging case, maintaining a familiar form factor that ensures compatibility with existing accessories and user expectations for portability.
What has been confirmed is that the traditional pairing button will be eliminated, reducing unsightly mechanical components prone to wear and simplifying the overall design. In its place, new touch controls will be introduced on the front of the case, similar to those on the AirPods 4. Users will be able to perform intuitive gestures, such as tapping to quickly pair the earbuds with an iPhone or other iOS device or to manage basic functions like music playback and volume control.
MacDailyNews Take: The AirPods Pro 3 will also retain support for the lanyard, Bu reports, ensuring compatibility with existing accessories while also accommodating a new Apple lanyard. We expect to see AirPods Pro 3 to debut alongside Apple’s new iPhone at its “Awe Dropping” special media event on September 9th.

Maintaining Apple’s signature minimalist aesthetic??? That went by the wayside after Steve died. Why do you think there is still a demand for the original airpods. Because you could tap the outside when you are doing inactivity to move back or forward and talk toSiri. Now you have to find the stem, hard when you are biking at 30 MPH and click it 1,2,3 times. Absurd and certainly nothing Apple does anymore is minimalistic. Cook needs to go and they need to fire the head of software development as Apple is now AppleSoft. they look more like MS then Apple these days with useless functionality galore. A mess
the touch functionality on the original AirPods was horrifically bad, maybe it worked 1/3 of the time for me, the positive click of the AirPods Pro is 100% consistent, it’s why they changed it
I could care less if the case is “slightly” smaller, fatter, taller, whatever. Or that it has touch to pair or a button.
I care, as do most, about:
Do they noise-cancel even better?
Do they sound even better?
Every incremental release, or large makeover release, they should always be sounding better and blocking out more sound. If not, why change? Because of a touch button or the case is a different shape? Please… Wake me up when something relevant arrives.
Every time the AirPod case drops, the case opens and the AirPods pop out. I wish the Apple engineers would design a case that didn’t pop open so easily. I have the dropsies so it falls too often. A rubber band works, but it’s inelegant and McGyverish.
