Trump Mobile, a venture licensed by The Trump Organization, has removed all references to its T1 Phone being “Made in America” from its official website. The gold-colored smartphone, initially marketed as a symbol of American manufacturing, has shifted to vaguer language like “Proudly American” and “designed with American values in mind.” This change, first noted by The Verge on Wednesday, comes amid revelations that the T1 Phone is likely a rebranded version of a Chinese-manufactured device, raising questions about the feasibility of its original claim.
Launched earlier this month, the T1 Phone was touted as a $499 Android-based smartphone, complete with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display and a cellular plan called “The 47 Plan,” referencing Donald Trump’s second presidential term. The Trump Organization’s initial press release and website prominently featured banners declaring the phone was “proudly designed and built in the United States.” However, tech analysts quickly pointed out similarities between the T1 and the T-Mobile REVVL 7 Pro 5G, a $169 device manufactured in China by Wingtech. This led to skepticism about the “Made in America” claim, as producing a competitive smartphone entirely in the U.S. is considered nearly impossible due to the global supply chain for components.
By Wednesday, Trump Mobile had scrubbed its website of explicit “Made in America” references, replacing them with phrases like “brought to life right here in the USA.” Despite this, Trump Organization spokesperson Chris Walker told USA TODAY that the T1 phones are “proudly being made in America,” calling speculation otherwise “inaccurate.”
The website changes weren’t limited to manufacturing claims. The T1’s specifications were also altered, with the display size reduced from 6.78 inches to 6.25 inches and RAM details removed entirely. Analysts, including The Verge’s David Pierce, suggest Trump Mobile may have switched suppliers, possibly in response to the backlash over the phone’s origins.
Industry experts, such as Purism CEO Todd Weaver, have long argued that meeting the Federal Trade Commission’s strict “Made in USA” standards — requiring nearly all components to be domestically sourced — is unfeasible for smartphones. All major players like Apple rely heavily on overseas manufacturing. The T1’s $499 price point, while competitive, further complicates the economics of U.S.-based production, leading criticism of Trump Mobile’s initial claim.
MacDailyNews Take: The T1 Phone launch date, initially set for September 2025, has also been changed to “later this year,” which might make its debut after Apple unveils and launches the iPhone 17 family, likely in September.

It’s a shame MDN quietly updated their original take on the first article. It would have been a perfect example of how to iCal yourself.
There’s no “gotcha” there, as MDN’s Take was based on the original “Made in America” claims, so it no longer applies in light of The Trump Organization’s revisions.
MDN’s that gullible? Everyone with any knowledge of telecom manufacturing should have seen through the Organization’s latest lies.
There’s plenty of “gotcha” there if MDN was stupid enough to believe what the Tangerine One was claiming in their initial press releases. A phone, Made in America!! for $500? And the ridiculous specs they were claiming?
Does sucking up to Trump actually require a total lack of thinking, or has it just turned out that way?
Fyi; I voted for DTJ and have NO regrets, but….
Trump’s commercial ventures, bother me deeply. The phone–yes, but less so. The coins REALLY bother me as they coincide with the Admin’s rigorous crypto advocacy. It’s almost impossible to separate the public/private advocacy.
Personal factor: I’m hugely pleased with the new Admin’s crypto advocacy (beyond Trump mention above), esp in contrast to the road-blocks set up by Biden, et al. The benefits to this holder of crypto are significant, but the Executive’s commercial projects bug…and I don’t give a flip per the Trump Boys running a separate/removed venture. It’s NOT removed.
You will have more regrets. The tariff pains haven’t even hit yet. Let alone the next generation of terrorists that the unilateral attacks on another sovereign nation just created.
Truth,
When someone say to you; “How stupid can you be?” it’s a question, NOT a challenge.
Sam: bet you’re so tough when you’re not hiding behind your chinese keyboard.
got anything intelligent to add? no, you never do.
JP Morgan estimates that tariffs may add about 15% to your cost of living. That’s not enough to incentivize any company to reshore factory production, but it will be the smoke & mirrors your corrupt government will use to reward its oligarch campaign funders and kick the debt to the next generation. https://www.jpmorgan.com/insights/global-research/current-events/us-tariffs
Explain why you hate the next generation so much.
truth
STOP taking ” “How stupid can you be?” as a challenge.
I don’t hate the next genearation, I hate stupid people, like you.
The only person who is so lame he has to resort to ad hominem in order to make himself feel tough is you, “Sam”. Your inciviility gives away your low IQ.
Reminding stupid people that they are stupid is not an attack, its a public service.
the only one you enjoy servicing wears orange makeup.
Tariff pains. From Wall Street Journal (06/26/2025): “EU Considers Lowering Tariffs on U.S. Imports in Effort to Woo Trump. European leaders debated at meeting what they could give up to secure speedy trade deal”
Next generation of terrorists. You mean the kind of possible terrorists Joe Biden and the Democrats let in with their feint “The Border Is Secure” policy the last four years?
From NBC News two days ago (06/24/2025): “ICE arrested 11 Iranian nationals with criminal records or suspected terrorist ties. The Iranians arrested over the weekend and taken into ICE custody were all men who were living in the U.S. illegally.”
If you are going with the name “TRUTH”, you might want to post some, oh, I don’t know, truth.
You just jump from one Fox headline to the next, don’t you?
EVERYONE supports the deportations of people who are not legal immigrants. We also would support more vigorous enforcement of laws to crack down on home grown criminals, but that isn’t happening. Racial profiling is NOT a good way to ensure justice.
To the point of tariffs: if the EU lowers their tariffs, then THEIR citizens may pay lower prices. A tariff, remember, id a tax on the consumer who buys an imported product. This administration as usual has it backwards. Instead of incentives to increase domestic production FIRST, and then actual reciprocal tariff rates that are NOT determined by the whims of a politician, and then US consumers would have choices. Unfortunately shocking the system with extreme and absurd arbitrary trade policies does nothing good for anyone and they will be reversed as soon as the next administration enters office, from any party. Dead Duck Donald has no clue how much political damage he is causing his own party. The consumer will see the results of his erratic behavior by xmas.
Trump’s order does risk terrorist attacks, but I’ll bet $1k you had little concern when Obama returned over a billion to Iran and Biden removed sanctions that enabled Iran’s energy sales to increase 10x. What would any simple mind think they would do with that $$…as the most active terror source in the World?
Well, they supplied lots of tools-of-the-trade to Hamas, Hezbollah the Houthis and other terror proxies in Siria, Iraq and Yemen.
Back to the wager…yes some will seek revenge through terror. But guess what, Iran’s terror-testosterone level has dropped into single digits, the Houthis are neutered and so are proxies in Gaza and Syria. It appears your political narrative speaks of danger before any risk/reward can be determined.
One reward from the risk that can’t be dismissed…the Country that Iran wanted to “push into the sea” is AT LEAST safer for a time than it was last week.
Then again, the white house might be headed to TACO town, as fatty the don so often does.
