U.S. President Donald Trump will attend a meeting with Japan to discuss tariffs, “trade fairness,” and American military support. The U.S. Treasury and Commerce departments are leading the discussions, with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent prioritizing Japan and envisioning agreements with Japan and other military allies to apply economic pressure on China.

“Hopefully something can be worked out which is good (GREAT!) for Japan and the USA!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said Japan is likely to be prioritized because it stepped forward quickly. He envisions reaching agreements with Japan and other military allies so they could come up with a collective effort to apply economic pressure on China.

Trump administration officials have expressed confidence that many countries want to negotiate to reduce their own tariffs and allow better access to their markets for American companies. A delegation from South Korea is scheduled to meet with US trade officials next week.

MacDailyNews Take: Japan will be the first of many such meeting and, hopefully, new trade deals.

    1. Shinzo Abe, PM of Japan, had a fond, friendly working relationship with DJT during his first term.

“toddler”, is an odd word choice considering “Let’s go Brandon” was the type of person that you seem to be willing to vote for during that election when it was hilariously proclaimed “the adults are back in charge”. The only thing adult about the previous administration was the diapers he had to be outfitted with.

      1. If this rapist convicted criminal is your adult then good luck, already countries are boycotting the US for travel and US goods. Funny how your supposed adult took the best economy in the world and is driving it off a cliff and you love him for it. Maybe look in the mirror

    1. Like YOU, of all people, could intelligently explain tariffs.

At least the “dumbass” is in good company.

“The Father of the Constitution was also the father of tariffs. Indeed, the first piece of legislation passed was James Madison’s Tariff Act. Madison, known as the Father of the Constitution, saw tariffs as a driving purpose of the Constitution and a sustaining force of the new government.”

“The Tariff Act of 1789, immediately following the Constitution, almost wholly financed the federal government created by that magnificent document, while also keeping it small enough so that it would not balloon in size the way that it did once income taxes were introduced during the Civil War, the Progressive Era, and catastrophically during the New Deal and Great Society.

Without tariffs, there would have been no Constitution and no United States of America.”

      1. OMG, how f*ckin stupid are you? I guess you are the new America and that is why we are no longer visiting your nation or buying your goods. Your idiot baby bone spurs is so smart he took the best economy in the world that recovered from the pandemic better than any other nation despite him causing more deaths than the US has suffered in ALL THEIR WARS including the war of independence! He is driving it off a cliff just so he can steal from the poor and give to the rich! The reason he loves tariffs so much is it is the only way to make the poor pay a portion of everything they make in taxes. With income tax the poor have a basic exemption with tariffs there is none.
