xAI’s Grok 3 is “the world’s smartest AI model,” according to xAI’s founder Elon Musk and early users think the claim not be hyperbole. “Grok has real-time knowledge. Big difference,” Musk wrote on his X social media platform Thursday morning.

Shirin Ghaffary for Bloomberg News:
Musk and his team say they have built the “smartest AI on Earth.”
The company’s newest model, called Grok 3, outperforms the most advanced AI systems from companies like OpenAI and DeepSeek on benchmarks for mathematical reasoning and coding capabilities, according to evaluations put out by xAI. The startup also unveiled a new product called Deep Search that is designed to speed up online research, competing with similar services from OpenAI and others.
Every month, if not every week, AI developers release models that they say rival the best software on the market. But xAI’s claims received added attention given the startup’s significant fundraising muscle, as well as Musk’s stature in the industry and his intense rivalry with OpenAI, a company that just days earlier he had tried to take control of with an unsolicited bid. In the absence of standardized, industry-wide benchmarks, however, it’s difficult to say definitively where Grok 3 stands.
Companies typically rely on self-evaluations, which are inherently limited. They can choose which benchmarks to release and present them in the fashion of their choice. According to an xAI blog post, for example, Grok’s new model performed less competitively with OpenAI’s most advanced system on some of its evaluations when it put less computational power toward answering the question, sparking a debate on X between some employees of both companies. Musk’s startup also hasn’t yet released an application programming interface for Grok 3 that would allow for outside researchers to do independent evaluation.
Derya Unutmaz, a professor at the Jackson Laboratory who researches cancer immunotherapy, praised Grok 3 overall for being “more up to date,” likely because it leans on data from Musk’s social media platform, X. At least some of his positive impression also came down to the feel of the product, which is more subjective and harder to quantify.
“You feel like there’s someone behind the screen talking to you,” he said. “It doesn’t feel artificial. It has more of a voice.”
MacDailyNews Take: We switched our main genAI use from Google’s Genesis to Grok 2 months ago because it was clearly better in multiple ways, from summarizing text to generating images. Grok 3 beta, which we are now using, is clearly a major advance.
MacDailyNews Note: Grok is available as a standalone app for iPhone and iPad via Apple’s App Store here and also via X.com here.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch:

Imagine where Apple would be today had Steve Jobs had the balls to choose Elon Musk to succeed him instead of a visionless “woke” virtue-signaling parts-orderer.
AAPL would sure have a car and rockets…at least.
I really have a thing for emojis, though.
Siri didn’t even rate a mention in Musk’s post.
That said, I’ve become less impressed with Musk the more I’ve seen/heard of him.
The big question is whether the brainmelting substance that has hit USA was distributed as an aerosol or in the the drinking water
My thoughts exactly
Maybe ask Grok who started the war in Ukraine?
Grok 3 prompt: “Who started the war in Ukraine?”
The war in Ukraine was started by Russia. It began in February 2014 when Russian forces, initially disguised as unmarked troops, invaded and annexed Crimea, a part of Ukraine. This followed Ukraine’s Revolution of Dignity, which ousted pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych. Shortly after, Russia supported pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region, sparking an armed conflict with Ukrainian forces. This initial phase escalated into a full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, when Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a “special military operation” and launched a widespread military assault across Ukraine. The conflict’s roots trace back to Russia’s actions in 2014, with the 2022 invasion marking a dramatic intensification. While some narratives, including from Russian leadership, claim the war stemmed from Western influence or Ukrainian aggression, the sequence of events—Russia’s military incursion into sovereign Ukrainian territory—points to Russia as the initiator.
“Well, you [Zelensky] have been there for three years. You should have ended it three years ago; you should have never started it, you could’ve made a deal.” – President Trump
Trump is saying that Zelensky could’ve made a deal and avoid a war that never would have started, but he chose not to (as that would’ve killed the ability to launder billions of American taxpayers’ money through Ukraine).
Zelensky was put in place to allow for “war” (laundering operation of US taxpayers’ billions).

He’s so mean in cutting “unnecessary” spending and he loves free speech.
Who cares if he can land rockets in a pair of chop sticks.
He doesn’t love FREE speech – only speech that agrees with him. Criticise him and you get thrown off Twitter. Complain about the breaks on your Tesla failing and get sued for slander. Community Notes don’t say what he wants? He just stated “We will fix this”.
I don’t think I ever despised two people more than Trump and Musk – and I honestly can’t say who’s worse. They are quickly turning the USA into a kleptocracy like Russia, introduce and lie about tariffs (essentially another tax that their own citizens must pay for), and the Maga crowd even applauds them taking US$ 4.5 TRILLION from the low and middle classes to pay for tax cuts for the super-rich – who pay far less tax than nurses, servers, cleaners etc. already. Honestly, how stupid can you be???
It will get interesting when the Maga crowd realize that they’ve been scammed all along – because at heart a lot of them are patriots … and heavily armed patriots at that – unlike the Democrats. It’s not surprising that both assassination attempts were perpetrated by Republicans … better be prepared for another storm on the Capitol … and stock up on emergency supplies …
Liar.
You can post pretty much anything, certainly stuff that criticizes Musk and/or Tesla, on X and it STAYS posted – unlike when the Democrats (Bureaucrats) abused the FBI et al. to FORCE Twitter, Facebook, etc. to CENSOR Republicans.
America is a REPUBLIC, by the way.
Truth, yer not veri brite are ya?
I came for the Nazi left scumbags tears and despair. Thread does not disappoint.
Despair you leftist motherf***ers, despair.
Let the TDS and EDS tears flow me a river!
Love it.
