Apple has released a new firmware update for all AirPods 4 models. This update, with build number 7B19, is an upgrade from the previous 7A304 firmware released in September.
While the specific details of the new firmware remain undisclosed, it is available for both the standard AirPods 4 and the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation. This marks the second firmware update for the AirPods 4 since their launch earlier this year.
Recently, Apple introduced Hearing Health capabilities to the AirPods Pro 2, including a hearing test, hearing protection, and hearing aid functionality. Both the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 share the 7B19 firmware, but it’s important to note that hearing aid functionality is exclusive to the AirPods Pro 2.
AirPods firmware updates are typically installed over-the-air when the AirPods are in their charging case and connected to an iOS device or Mac. Manual firmware updates are not supported by Apple.

Canada does not allow Apple to make its hearing test software available in Canada. Very disappointing. Croatia, even Vatican City have access. I was only able to find this out yesterday, having purchased the Pro 2 over a month ago. The thing is, these are only for people with minor hearing loss, many of whom do not have expensive hearing aids or do not use them owing to cumbersome fitting in ears, with one wire connecting the in ear bit and the other behind the ear.
To fix this, federal politicians should be required to have a doctor’s prescription to own am Apple watch, phone or AirPod.
