Apple is rumored to be working on a huge new iMac Pro. We’re talking an expansive 30- or 32-inch screen packed powered by cutting-edge Apple Silicon. This wouldn’t be just just a bigger iMac; it’d usher in a whole new level of performance and design for Apple’s iconic all-in-one.
Roland Hutchinson for Geeky Gadgets:
In a departure from tradition, Apple has decided to forgo the release of a new 27-inch iMac, instead focusing its efforts on developing larger models that have the potential to redefine the iMac Pro lineup.
One of the standout features of the upcoming iMac Pro is its impressive display capabilities. The new model is expected to boast a 30 or 32-inch ProMotion display with a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring an incredibly smooth and fluid visual experience. The high refresh rate will greatly enhance the overall viewing experience, making it ideal for creative professionals, gamers, and anyone who demands the best in display technology.
Moreover, Apple is likely to incorporate mini-LED technology into the new iMac Pro’s display. This advanced technology offers superior contrast and brightness compared to traditional LED displays, resulting in more vibrant colors, deeper blacks, and an overall more immersive visual experience.
The improved cooling system will play a vital role in supporting the integration of more powerful chips, such as the M4 Pro or M4 Max. These innovative processors will deliver significant performance improvements, making the iMac Pro an ideal choice for demanding tasks such as video rendering, 3D modeling, and complex data analysis.

MacDailyNews Take: While desktops make up a small part of Apple’s Mac sales (perhaps because the current iMac has been limited to a relatively dinky 24-inch display since the last 27-inch model was discontinued on March 8, 2022), a 30- or 32-inch iMac Pro powered by M4 Pro or M4 Max would be a welcome option for many would-be iMac buyers!

I’d have believed it a year ago. I thought Apple was delaying updating iMac from M1 to release a larger more powerful option with upgrade to M3. I now believe Apple returned iMac to its roots, one size, one processor, memory/storage options, multiple colors, firmly in the “consumer desktop” quadrant… The Intel iMac Pro was needed as a stopgap, because the cylinder Mac Pro was unpopular. It quickly disappeared from lineup when the boxy Intel Mac Pro returned. There will likely be a larger Studio Display, 32-inch, to be paired at customer discretion, with Mac mini (regular or Pro), Mac Studio (Max/Ultra), or Mac Pro.
They obviously made the wrong choice with this approach. People aren’t buying the “just get a Mac Mini/Studio AND an expensive Studio Display”. They WILL release a larger iMac because they can make more money with it in their lineup.
fsck yes, and soon please!
Still using my 27 inch iMac. The Mac Studio+Studio display is overpriced along with being the wrong form factor. I left Dell because I liked Apple’s large screen all in one iMac.
By eliminating the large screen iMac Apple has killed my reason for buying a second computer.
Without a reasonably priced large screen iMac, I will forget buying a new desktop computer. If I am going to be stuck with a box and cables, I will just use my existing Macbook Pro 16.
I can connect my MBP to a bluetooth keyboard/mouse and a 3rd party monitor and have about the same mess of cables as a Mac Mini or Mac studio.
For my parents the 24 inch iMac is fine. Apple Silicon hasn’t been so hot for me.
Just give regular people a 27″ iMac for god’s sake. 24″ is for kids not for adults using computers at home. So tired of Timmy’s apple screwing the consumer.
I bought a 28″ HP 4k monitor to use with my MacBook Pro in clamshell mode. After all this waiting they might as well make the new iMacs AT LEAST that big with no bezels to fit in the same footprint.
What New John said, yes!
I’d happily buy a Mac Studio if there were an excellent 30 or 32 inch monitor that wasn’t vastly overpriced like the Pro Display XDR (starts at a ridiculous $4999). It’s a good monitor but they could still make good money on it if it was priced at $3000. There are many customers like myself who bought a 27 inch Intel iMac and are still waiting for Apple to offer a reasonable replacement solution. PC users are buying affordable 30 and 32 inch monitors but Apple seems too big to care about its own users.
