One of Apple’s lead designers for Safari has departed the company to join The Browser Company. The news was announced today by Josh Miller, CEO of The Browser Company.
The Browser Company is the company behind the increasingly popular Arc web browser, which claims to offer “a calmer, more personal” internet browsing experience.
In his announcement on social media, Miller said that Charlie Deets is joining The Browser Company after five years at Apple. Miller describes Deets as one of the two Safari lead designers on Apple… Deets confirmed his move to The Browser Company on his personal X account.
Extremely excited to start work at @browsercompany today. https://t.co/MD9e8vQdqL

Well apparently his five years on Safari were a wasted five years, as it still sucks in so many ways. Don’t let the door hit ya’.
I’m starting to think, with all the recent departures, the grass IS greener on the other side. I’d bet there’s a story in there….
agree… under Tim Cook, Apple has lost its way. And they NEED to replace Tim Cook ASAP. Safari has not improved at all in years. It robs RAM in the worst way. NOT the fastest browser. But then again, when I think of Tim Cook’s Apple, it LACKS a TON of potential, but with a lost leader, it’s a ship going nowhere… and the stock price reflects that.
ARC is ok, but Perplexity rules.
