Apple sold some 180,000 Apple Vision Pro spatial computers in pre-order sales and, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a new note to clients, the company stocked around 80,000 units for launch day and the numbers aren’t slowing down.

Ronil Thakkar for The Mac Observer:

Moreover, reports floating online suggest that Apple has sold nearly 200,000 Vision Pro units until now.

And now, with shipment dates stretching into March soon after pre-orders began and no inventory accessible in the Apple store, the Vision Pro is nearly sold out.

While we patiently wait for Apple to reveal the actual sales figure of the Vision Pro, if and when they actually do it, a prediction report from Statista suggests the company could ship around 350,000 units in the first year of the launch, reaching almost 1.5 million in year two.

MacDailyNews Take: It’s sounding more and more like a very strong early adopter / developer start for the first-generation Apple Vision Pro!

  1. I love mine, The weight distribution is an issue but 3rd parties are on it. But the Mac virtual display is the best feature by far, the ability to share the Mac display and share the computing power with the Vision Pro in a single virtual workspace is a true productivity game changer. Watching movies AVP is great too. The visual experience of watching a movie on my 65″ OLED can’t compare with the Vision Pro, Not mention the 3D movies are amazing on the AVP. As the price of these come down physical TV manufactures could feel the heat.

The surround audio is great but needs more low end (bass). But AVPs work good with Air Pods. If you’re a tech person or developer then I can t imagine returning mine. AVPs are the most exciting computer Tech in a long time. The future is forward.

  2. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet, but I had one in my cart last Saturday which would have been ready for pickup two days later on Monday. It looks like if you want one you can get one within a week or two tops. They had stock in the Palo Alto store then, but the choke point seems to be light seal availability since their face scans don’t always get you the best fit.

On eBay the supply is about 4x the demand (1600+ available vs ~400 sold) with the highest prices going in the first few days after launch. I think Apple is meeting the demand since you really don’t want to keep people waiting who are plunking down this much for it. If you ask me they overestimated initial demand a bit, but I think it will continue to build as word of mouth and all of the awesome YouTube vids get out there, which are much better than Apple’s own marketing which doesn’t do the AVP justice.
