“Following some reports of instability, many of Apple’s key iCloud services came crashing down yesterday, prompting global reports, angry customers and giving the usual suspects a big stick to wave around and an excuse for finger-pointing and ‘Bad Apple’-style comments,” Jonny Evans writes for Apple Must.
“If we assume Apple’s iCloud services weren’t being hacked or attacked,” Evans writes, “then it’s reasonable to assume either: 1/ A software patch went unexpectedly wrong. 2/ An anticipated maintenance/service upgrade took place.”
Evans writes, “I think it is very likely we will see enhancements to Apple’s iCloud services in the next few weeks. What’s open to question is if these enhancements will be compelling enough to make us think the temporary service failure was worthwhile.”

Teh clouds
No, this is situation normal. iCloud is simply a horrible service, not even remotely reliable.
I’m sure Eddie Cue was right on it…
If it’s not one thing, it’s another. I figured that out a long time sgo!
The fallacy of the cloud is: When you need access the most, your shit won’t be available.
Probably some updates before WWDC. Had to throw a few new mac minis in the server rack.
If only this was so. Unfortunately, for those functions Apple hasn’t outsourced to other cloud purveyors, Apple uses primarily Linux servers, HP hardware. Gone are the days when Apple actually could run the company entirely on Macs & XServes. Shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will all these failures it seems Apple hasn’t planned anything remotely similar to stability. I suppose what we are experiencing is the status quo.
Of course I got a new iPhone SE yesterday and couldn’t connect to iCloud all afternoon.
Do yourself a huge favor: back up your new iPhone to a Mac. It will save you many future iCloud headaches.
