“Apple CEO Tim Cook today sent out a memo to all employees ahead of the Apple Watch’s retail try-on kickoff this Friday,” Mark Gurman reports for 9to5Mac.
Gurman reports, “Cook announced “Apple Watch discounts for all employees: 50% off the aluminum sport and stainless steel models and $550 off of the gold Edition variations.”
Gurman reports, “Cook also told employees that ‘more than one thousand apps were submitted in just four days last week when the App Store started accepting them, and the rate of submissions has only been climbing since then.'”

MacDailyNews Take: With well over 1,000 apps available at launch on April 24th, no other wearable will be able to compete with Apple Watch.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Arline M.” for the heads up.]
$550 off the gold watch. Ha ha ha. That’s some discount!
5.5% guaranteed return, maybe more *if* there is a backlog…
not a bad short term investment
(*when)
The REAL impact of apps on Apple Watch will be from EXISTING highly popular apps, updated with new Apple Watch features. Those apps will make iPhone customers who don’t already want an Apple Watch want one, because they already use the app on their iPhone and want the new features that are only for Apple Watch owners.
The early app developers will get the $$$ worm rewards.
If it was 200, I would prolly buy it just for the hell of it. But 399 plus tax, nope.
If it was $200, it wouldn’t be worth buying… 🙂
trolldude, I hope this isn’t a ploy to get me to raise your allowance. With your poor spelling of ‘probably’, you won’t get any points at school tomorrow (providing that you don’t miss the short bus you take every day).
We might be poor trolly but you at least have your bridge to live under and at least one goat per week to gnaw on.
an android device wouldn’t be worth 2 cents.
samsung has to PAY people to attend their product launches, for Apple people and press beg for tickets…
not only are android devices not worth 2 cents you have to spend money to get anti virus etc to get rid of all the malware. Millions of infected apps sold even from Google’s official app store, and the the third party stores worse…
fuk… not 2 cents, but I wouldn’t use an android if they paid me 200 to forgo my iPhone for week and use that android crap. To have my bank account etc comprised by android malware, my privacy invaded by spyware and my processing overtaken by the countless botnets etc….
I submitted three last weekend. Amazingly enough, all three have already been reviewed (which is astounding–they must have a TON of folks working on Q&A testing). Unfortunately all three have been rejected due to various random issues, mostly to do with the fact that I don’t yet have a real watch to test it on. Here’s hoping my 2nd builds all pass muster and I have 3 or 4 apps in there come 4/24!
