Users of Apple’s flagship iPhone 6 Plus consume twice as much data as iPhone 6 owners

“Citrix’s newly-released mobile analytics report shows that owners of the iPhone 6 Plus, consumed twice the amount of mobile data as people using the iPhone 6,” Alice Truong writes for Quartz. “(Overall, iOS is far ahead of Android when it comes to mobile traffic. A research note from Piper Jaffray in December found that iOS accounted for 61.4% of mobile traffic in the US compared with Android’s 37.5% share.)”

“Many studies have correlated larger screens with higher engagement,” Truong writes. “But there may be more going on that just video usage. Both phones tout very similar 8-megapixel cameras, but the image stabilization found only on the iPhone 6 Plus allows it to capture more detail, which translates to larger file sizes.”

Truong writes, “Another potential explanation is much simpler: iPhone 6 Plus owners are early adopters and hardcore enthusiasts, and so the device is overrepresented for people who are glued to their phones at all times.”

MacDailyNews Take: Study after study over the years has confirmed that users of Apple’s flagship iPhone consume the most data.

As day one owners of every iPhone flagship model ever made, we can confidently say of iPhone 6 Plus: There is no substitute.

As we wrote back in October:

Unsurprisingly, we have both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus… The iPhone 6 is a beautiful phone. It’s the second best smartphone in the world, in fact. But, lay them both on our desk and we’ll grab the Plus when heading out every time. We can simply get more done with it, the battery lasts far longer, and the camera is superior. Also, as someone here at MacDailyNews likes to say (here’s a quote you won’t be seeing on the big screen during Apple’s next keynote): “Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus is the ultimate fuck you phone.”

All other so-called smartphones pale in comparison to Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus.
