“Seattle is known for a few technology companies – Amazon and Microsoft spring to mind, of course – but those giants are getting a new member of the club, and it’s arriving from Cupertino,” Matt Hickey reports for Forbes. “According to a cleverly sleuthed-out story from my friends at GeekWire, Apple is set to open its first engineering office here in the near future, and the focus of the office appears to the cloud.”
“But there’s more. Apple is rumored to have recently purchased Union Bay Networks, a stealthy cloud startup based in Seattle’s own Fremont,” Hickey reports. “Nobody at Union Bay wanted to talk to me about specifics regarding the rumors, but these are the kinds of rumor around here that tend to flesh out into real deals.”
Hickey reports, “Indeed, one of Union Bay engineer’s LinkedIn profile shows that he recently changed jobs – from Union Bay Networks to Apple.”
