“Add Carl Icahn to that Apple fan club. He told CNBC last night that Apple is a ‘once in a decade’ company and a ‘no-brainer’ investment,” Barbara Kollmeyer reports for MarketWatch. “Of course, this is the guy who has a $5 billion position.”
“He also suggests fund managers don’t own enough of the Cupertino powerhouse and are going to be scrambling for shares as they try to catch up — which may go for more than just Apple,” Kollmeyer reports. “‘The 10% correction was a nasty shock, but with the end of the year looming, there will be a lot of investors looking to jump on board a late-stage rally that will do much to buff performance figures for the year,’ said Chris Beauchamp, market analyst at IG.”
Kollmeyer reports, “‘We are a larger shareholder. I have $5 billion dollars. I think I have a right to say what I think,’ Carl Icahn, taking some credit for accelerating Apple’s $17 billion buyback plan, in an interview with CNBC.”
