Apple hopes to power iPad sales surge with new models

“Apple hopes to give slowing iPad sales a push with new models for the holiday shopping season,” Patrick Seitz reports for Investor’s Business Daily. “”

“The Cupertino, Calif.-based company sent out invites Wednesday for an Oct. 16 media event at its corporate headquarters. The typically cryptic invite reads, ‘It’s been way too long.’ While Apple isn’t tipping its hand, analysts expect the company to unveil new iPads at the event,” Seitz reports. “Apple is also expected to use the event to show off its latest Mac desktop and notebook computers running on Mac OS X Yosemite software, the Apple news site 9to5Mac reported.”

“Apple’s iPad sales have fallen on a year-over-year basis for two consecutive quarters,” Seitz reports. “Wall Street analysts speculate that the new, large-screen iPhone 6 Plus, with its 5.5-inch display, could cannibalize sales of the iPad Mini, which has a 7.9-inch screen.”
