“The order momentum for related chips for iPhone 6 devices in the first quarter of 2015 will be as strong as that in the fourth quarter of 2014, indicating strong market demand of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, said the industry sources,” Cage Chao and Steve Shen report for DigiTimes.
“Apple has asked chipset suppliers to prepare related chips for production of up to 200-250 million units of the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch, revealed the sources,” Chao and Shen report. “The strong order visibility for related chips for the iPhone6 devices also indicates that the wafer production at TSMC’s 8- and 12-inch fabs will remain tight in the first quarter of 2015, added the sources.”
Chao and Shen report, “The leadtime for wafer shipments has been running at 12-15 weeks recently and is unlikely to shorten for the time being, said the sources.”
