Apple CEO Tim Cook: iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will trigger ‘mother of all upgrades’

“Two hours after introducing a pair of larger iPhones, a new smartwatch, and a new payments system, Apple’s normally reserved CEO Tim Cook said he was still riding high on adrenaline,” Daisuke Wakabayashi reports for The Wall Street Journal.

“Cook received a standing ovation from employees in attendance when he said there’s ‘one more thing’ – an act of showmanship once reserved for Steve Jobs, the company’s former chief executive,” Wakabayashi reports. “In a short interview, Cook said the announcements were a ‘statement of Apple’ and that it was ‘one of the most important’ days in the company’s history. Not surprisingly, he was bullish about the new products that the company unveiled on Tuesday.”

“Cook said he expects the introduction of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will trigger ‘the mother of all upgrades,'” Wakabayashi reports. “While the bigger screens will capture most of the attention, Cook said the phones are ‘appreciably better in every single way.’ He said he expects Android users to look at switching to the iPhone.”
