Korea Times report of Apple-Samsung settlement talks was bogus

“On Monday the Korea Times reported that Apple and Samsung were engaged in ‘working-level discussions’ to dismiss all lawsuits — much as Apple and Google had three days earlier,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports for Fortune.

“The piece quoted FOSS Patent‘s Florian Mueller to the effect that Apple was ‘looking for a face-saving exit strategy from Steve Jobs’ thermonuclear ambitions,'” P.E.D. reports. “On Tuesday, the Korea Times took it all back.”

P.E.D. reports, “Samsung was agreeable to settlement talks, it reported, but not Apple.”

The rest of the full article is a mistake (equating one Samsung SEP for which Apple’s owes $158,000 with all of Apple’s design patents for which Samsung currently owes Apple over $1 billion in damages) followed by what basically amounts to a press release from Florian Müller pushing his throughly transparent anti-Apple/pro-Samsung campaign.
