Slow sales of flagship smartphones from LG, HTC and Huawei to affect vendor rankings in 2014

“Slower-than-expected sales of flagship models launched by a number of smartphone vendors, including LG Electronics, HTC and Huawei, may result in significant changes of market shares in 2014, according to industry observers,” Daniel Shen and Steve Shen report for DigiTimes.

“Although HTC’s flagship model, the HTC One, gained a number of awards at international events, sales of the model have been flat since its launch in late March 2013,” Shen and Shen report. “LG originally projected to sell 10 million units of its Optimus G2 flagship model in 2013, but global sales have so far reached slightly over two million units, the observers noted.”

Shen and Shen report “Huawei has so far shipped only over three million units of its latest flagship model, the Ascend P6, lagging far behind its shipment target of 10 million units.”
