Thousands queue for Foxconn jobs ahead of next-gen iPhone, possible ‘iPad mini’ production

“Heavy rains have battered Chengdu over the past few days, but this won’t stop young jobseekers lining up for Foxconn summer jobs at the Foxconn plant in Chengdu,” Chris Chang reports for M.I.C. Gadget.

“Thousands of people were lining up, and they were armed with rain gear and umbrellas, standing out in the rain just for a chance to audition,” Chang reports. “Apparently, the Foxconn plant in Chengdu is hiring now for summer jobs – and according to our sources, the plant is hiring a large number of summer workers, which may still have openings.”

Chang reports, “So, despite reports detailing the mistreatment of factory workers assembling Apple products in China, there’s still a huge demand for jobs at the Foxconn factory. There’s actually thousands of hopefuls lining up for Foxconn jobs as the Chengdu and Zhengzhou plants ramp up the iPad mini and next generation of iPhone production respectively.”
