“Samsung Electronics has altered its plan for establishing a global cloud infrastructure by using Samsung SDS’s ‘S-Cloud’ and is taking alternative measures to set up the infrastructure,” Sung Hyun-hee reports for Korea IT News.
“The overhaul of the existing cloud strategy was carried out, following Samsung Electronics’ decision that the “S-Cloud” architecture developed by Samsung SDS is inappropriate for global cloud services,” Sung reports. “It appeared that Samsung Electronics will utilize the proven technology of other solution companies.”
“‘It takes a considerable amount of time to prepare cloud services. For instance, Apple started preparing for iCloud two years ago when it launched iPhone 3. Since it has more products than Apple and has adopted the open Android OS, Samsung Electronics needs a highly sophisticated technology for cloud services,’ said an official from the cloud industry,” Sung reports.
