A glimpse into Apple’s future product releases

“Apple’s product development team is notorious for working in full secrecy. So how are we supposed to get a glimpse of what Apple may bring us in the future? You can try to break into Cupertino’s R&D department, or just ask Jack Purcher, publisher of Patently Apple – a popular blog site that analyzes Apple’s latest patents,” Karl Hente reports for MacDirectory.

Apple’s inventor Christoph Krah states that the three-dimensional (“3D”) imaging apparatuses that are described in the invention are suitable for head tracking (also see), (hand) gesturing, presence detection, auxiliary display functions, and other capabilities and functionalities that could involve combinations including an assortment of the following components: A collimated high-speed infrared (“IR”) or visible laser (e.g. such as used for fiber optic communications) A visible 3-color illumination source and driver circuit A high-speed photo detector (e.g., PIN diode based) A digital signal processor (“DSP”) Dual axis scanning device (e.g., analog mirror) and driver circuit Analog subsystem Video subsystem.

    The patent was filed October 21, 2005 and lists Christoph H. Krah as its inventor.

  2. One potential product that I’ve surprisingly not seen any discussion of is the unreleased Apple web and graphics media suite. It’s seems an obvious enough market gap that needs filling, based on delivering HTML 5 tech that would match and outclass Photoshop and Flash and other CS products. Tumultco Hype is partly there and adobe edge a baby step in that direction, but beyond whispers from fofs I’ve not seen anything on it. I wouldn’t be surprised to see such a product in the next 12 months.
