“Millennial Media has published its quarterly S.M.A.R.T. report, which shows that Apple’s iPhone has been at the top of the smartphone platform for three years running when it comes to mobile advertising,” Peter Cohen reports for The Loop. “The iPod touch and iPad both ranked well in Millennial Media’s list, also.”
Cohen reports, “For its 50th report, Millennial Media juxtaposed a list of the top 20 mobile phones from 2009 to the same list in 2011. The iPhone was one of the only models that was shown on both lists, and in both cases, the iPhone ranked number one. What’s changed, however, is the percentage – in March of 2009, the iPhone was used to show 5.82 percent of ads; in June of 2011, that number was 16.19 percent. No other device exceeded single digits.”

Finally, we are seeing what I have been harping about for months. There is no Android phone platform. There are phone makers who use Android as a jumping off point for their altered and mutually incompatible phone software. Apple’s iOS cannot be compared to Android because every iOS device is compatible with every other. If you want to compare fully functional and compatible iOS devices with one another, then the only comparison is total iOS devices (iphone, iPod touch and iPad with Android OS devices. If you want to compare phones, it is one phone to another.
But But.. Android is the most used mobile OS in the world… no matter you can’t make a dime out of it…
