“On Monday, we reproduced a pair of charts from Asymco’s Horace Dediu showing how Apple (AAPL) overtook Nokia (NOK) in less than four years to become the world’s No. 1 maker of mobile phones — smart or otherwise — in terms of revenue,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports for Fortune.
“On Tuesday, Dediu posted “two snapshots of the global mobile phone market in Q1 2011: First by volume and then by profit,” P.E.D. reports. “Apple’s share of the worldwide mobile phone market by volume [is] about 5%… [while] Apple’s share by operating profit is about 55%.
