“Playing the tracks in the iPhone Rock Band works just like its console big brother in that every note you miss causes the music to be interrupted. This seems to add so much more to the game than just tapping along to a song like other similar games on the platform with music that just keeps playing regardless of how poorly you’re doing,” Eli Hodapp reports for TouchArcade.
“Each song can be played in four distinctly different ways– Guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. Every instrument has its own track that you tap along with, and they all match up with the music just as well as the other versions of the game,” Hodapp reports.
“Rock Band features several modes of play. If you only have time to play a single song, there’s a quick play mode,” Hodapp reports. “If you want to play through various gigs as your band seeks fame and fortune there’s a world tour mode, and if you have friends with the game both online and local bluetooth multiplayer is included.”
Hodapp reports, “Rock Band has already been submitted for approval to Apple, and is expected to go live sometime next week!”

What kind of satisfaction is gained by playing this with fingers?
Play a real instrument and learn something for a change.
Can’t wait for Rap-Crap.
@ MadMac – Your not a woman are you?
I see this as EA’s attempt broaden the marketing for the game. The iPhone version of this game is not meant to be a substitute for the console game. It is essentially a (probably quite playable) teaser for the real thing.
I don’t have a console, and therefore haven’t tried the real Guitar Hero/Rock Band series (I actually play real instruments). There are many like me who, for various reasons, haven’t tried the game. A cheap iPhone version will get them to try it, which may motivate them to buy the “real” thing.
Either way, another little feather in App Store’s massive hat.

I’d ask Futureman Wooten about that.
