LG’s iPhone knockoff too close for legal comfort? (with image)

While searching for the most blatant iPhone knockoffs, we didn’t have to look very hard. One, from Lucky GoldStar (LG), takes the cake. MacDailyNews reader “Dirty Pierre le Punk” found this item from earlier this month:

“Details of LG KM900 Arena handset have leaked out in Netherlands, via retailer’s Phone House sales brochure,” Unwired View reports.

“Along with the trade name, quite clear picture and at least some key specs,” Unwired View reports.

“LG Arena KM900 will be a full touchscreen media handset in metallic housing, 5 megapixel camera (DVD quality video recording), and, probably Divx playback. It will also have Wi-Fi support, built-in GPS and an ‘innovative S-Class 3D’ interface, which looks kinda ‘iPhone’ish’ at least in the picture,” Unwired View reports.

MacDailyNews Take: LG, the icons’ corners are supposed to be a little more rounded. Nice “innovation” changing the real estate surrounding the screen from black to white, though. Hey, LG, can you say, “trade dress infringement?” We knew you could. Some companies have zero pride. Sheesh. We’re left wondering if even Apple has enough lawyers to unleash on the myriad iPhone rip-offs cropping up out there.
