MW: another as is, there is isn’t another hardware company like Apple – average site visit of over 1 hour compared to the next longest (Dell, 17mins), just shows how Apple inspires visitors to want to keep reading / researching, whatever; it looks like the times on other sites are to get off as quickly as possibel after finding the info.
fp
that’s funy to me.
Aple time-1 hour and 8 minutes.
Dell-17 minutes. Not to look at there stuff, but to get TIRED of looking…
their
I always feel like, somebody’s watching me.
Who’s playing tricks on me? (oh oh oh oh!)
Give us iWork 07 and I’ll give them another visit.
I think they are mostly looking at iPods and not Macs, since it was holiday season and all. But hey, 39.7 people now know where to go when they are ready to switch!
And January, ’07 number should be through the roof.
The majority of HP visits are probably frustrated inkjet printer owners trying to find the correct replacement cartridge from the list of millions. And Creative’s site is frequented by thousands of attorneys trying to think up new suits.
One hour and 8 minutes….per visit? That must include iTunes store. I struggle to believe that it is related solely to computer hardware.
Keynote?
Struggle away, Buster! Struggle away.
I’ll bet that the new iWork and iLife versions have some new Leopard features hence the delay. Perhaps a Time Machine link in a dropdown menu? Instant widget creation within iWeb? Embedded iChat window in iWeb? New accessibility voices in all?
“Keynote?”
Not in November. More likely holiday shopping. And yes, mostly iPods for sure.
It’s all marketing. Apple did away with iTunes install CD in the iPod boxes. They forced all the new iPod owners to visit Apple.com to download iTunes off the website. And while they are in the site, they look around for other stuffs for potential sales.
And then there are those of us who just always have it open in the browser somewhere…
Don’t forget the wealth of info, chats, help, stories, videos and so forth.
I don’t think they mean just the store, do they?
i was watching the ads…took more like 3 hours on my hand cranked 56k airport
Wow, the top three combined didn’t add up to Apple’s total.
Imo it does help that the layout of the site is so easy to follow and navigate etc.
Does this number include visits via iTunes to buy music. If so a comparison for hardware purchases would be unfair.
There are also visits to Apple for updates, QT downloads, software purchases etc.
Even so this is great news and Apple is going from strength to strength. When Apple get close to HP and Dell in sales it will really get interesting.
i dont think its that hard to imagine spending an hour on apple.com, excluding itunes music store.
You have all those Leopard OSX 10.5 preview demonstrations.
All those “Get a Mac” ads.
Just those alone will use up that time, let alone reading up about how it all works and finally sizing up the right machine for themselves.
Also, not being funny, but I’m sure that some switchers need some help and thus go to the support pages to find out more.
Afterall, for many people they’re new to macs, and want to research up first for the outlay.
it’s not hard to imagine spending an hour at the Apple.com but this is the average of millions of visitors. It must have something to do with the iTunes Store.

“Does this number include visits via iTunes to buy music. If so a comparison for hardware purchases would be unfair.”
If you actually read the first sentence is states that this is for “… computer hardware e-commerce sites … ” So, does that include iTS? No it doesn’t.
Score:
Apple 39.7M
All others combined: 49.7M
That’s a lot of public interest in one company…
That’s all the Redmond developers getting their ‘inspiration’.
