MacDailyNews Take: Why wait forever for something that’ll still be a poor substitute for the world’s most advanced operating system, Apple’s Mac OS X Tiger, that also happens to be available right now? Longhorn is already a stripped-down shell of what Microsoft had promised it to be; it’s already being referred to as “Windows XP Service Pack 3.” If Microsoft’s Longhorn, which is currently described (charitably, perhaps) as a “train wreck” by Windows expert Paul Thurrott, is going to require many people to have to purchase of a new PC just to run it, why not just buy a Mac and cross-grade your software instead? It’s a no-brainer. The vast majority of the world would be far better off with a Mac for personal computing and, if you want, a Sony PlayStation for games. Moo.
