Java-based application allows viewing Autocad files on Macintosh

“Cimmetry’s Server/Client version of AutoVue allows any client — including Mac OS X — to view a wide range of native CAD file formats on the Macintosh, even Autocad,” Architosh reports.

“Their Server/Client version of AutoVue uses Java — that software technology Microsoft loves to hate — to enable platform-agnostic deployment of AutoVue. AutoVue Server/Client Edition requires a company to install and run a server version of the software on either Microsoft’s Windows NT4, 2000, XP or 2003 Server, or Sun Solaris 8 or 9. Once installed, clients running a myriad of operating systems, including Mac OS, and Mac OS X with a Java Virtual Machine can utilize AutoVue,” Architosh reports.
