Apple’s Web site states that the dual 1.42 GHz Power Mac G4 is “now shipping.” The fastest Power Macintosh (US$2,699) was announced in January. It is based on Apple’s Xserve architecture, including up to 2MB of Double Data Rate Level 3 cache and 333 MHz Double Data Rate (DDR) memory, and symmetric multiprocessing capabilities delivering up to 21 gigaflops (21 billion floating point operations per second) of performance, according to Apple. The dual 1.42 GHz Power Mac also features FireWire 800 and has internal support for both 54Mbps AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth wireless networking. More info here.
