Apple CEO Tim Cook is one of the 100 Most Influential People of 2021 according to TIME’s newly published rankings.
Nike co-founder Phil Knight for Time Magazine:
In 2005, when we first talked to Tim Cook about becoming a member of the Nike board, we were hoping to add a good decisionmaker to the team. Within a short time, he proved himself to be a man of excellent judgment, able to think tactically and strategically in an industry far different from his own. He also offered the most valuable attribute of any leader in any field: wisdom.
Outside of our work together, I have known Tim as both a friend and as a rival college-football fan. (The tally since Tim joined Nike’s board: Auburn 2 wins, Oregon 0. So far.) Virtually all leaders of large organizations today have high IQs. What separates the good from the great are intangibles such as character, compassion, courage—adjectives that apply to Tim.
One of his most difficult challenges was the change of leadership at Apple after Steve Jobs passed away, the Steve Jobs who was beloved and recognized around the world as a genius.
This almost impossible transition was handled with amazing dignity and grace, and announced to the world in his own quiet way: “I am not the second Steve Jobs. I am the first Tim Cook.”
And by the way, in the 10 years since… Apple stock has gone up 1,000%, making it the most valuable company in the world.

The subject of the piece was influential people, and obviously Cook has massive influence. He gets each of the regular psycho right wing trolls to spend hours of every day bitchin about every single thing Apple or Cook does, every fscking day. That is powerful influence to get so many cranially damaged whiners to keep banging their heads against a brick wall, which after a decade of Cook as CEO has accomplished what exactly? Yeah, tell us one instance where you complaining on an ad infested WordPress page made any difference to Cook or Apple’s actions.
Whiners got far too much time on their hands. Maybe you should volunteer at an animal shelter where the residents might care what electronic hardships and political BS has ruined your day, every day.

@Positive Thoughts: Must you start assuming and bashing right-wing people in your comment? You made numerous excellent points back to him, but your comments are diminished when labels are assumed. Mom taught us early in life that idiots can be found in any political party, color, or religion. I’m right-wing and I think Tim’s done a great job after he was handed the toughest act in the world to follow. In 1985 John Sculley was the previous one to replace Steve Jobs and Sculley crashed and burned the company almost immediately to the edge of bankruptcy. Steve chose well when he picked Tim. My worry is who’s next?
