“Taking Stock With Teens” is a semi-annual research project that gathers input from 7,000 teens with an average age of 16.1 years. Discretionary spending patterns, fashion trends, technology, and brand and media preferences are assessed through surveying a geographically diverse subset of high schools across the U.S. Since the project began in 2001, Piper Sandler has surveyed more than 201,800 teens and collected over 49.7 million data points on teen spending.

MacDailyNews Take: The future belongs to Apple!

Why would anyone want a slow, green-bubbled, insecure, privacy-invading fake iPhone, when you can have a fast, blue-bubbled, secure, privacy-protecting real iPhone instead?

Only old ignorati handicap themselves with Google tracking devices.

So, what happens to Apple’s smartphone share as these teens grow up, become adults, and have families?MacDailyNews, October 22, 2018

In one of our local high schools, out of roughly 300 students who are known to have a cellphone, three (3!) are known to not have an iPhone (two Androids of unknown make (that the kids hate and keep well-hidden) and one flip phone to be used only for emergency calls). All of the rest have iPhones. Quote from a student: “It’s really bad to be green in Messages.”MacDailyNews, April 11, 2018

  1. This is exactly why the monopoly Apple has on apps needs to be taken care of.

There needs to be the option of competition, there needs to be the ability to install software from places other than the App Store.

  2. In addition to owning iPhones, most teens do not watch CNN, Fox New, local news, or Cable TV . . . once advertisers realize that people under 30 don’t even watch Cable TV, they will move their ad money to other venues . . . If you don’t believe that is possible, look at what happened to print newspapers when advertisers pulled out and look what happened to TV Soap Operas when ad money disappeared . . . The habits of teenagers will affect which businesses are still standing in 10 years.

  3. Are the teens preparing themselves to fulfill this factoid recently submitted by Jamie Dimon….

“Our education and health issues come together in this alarming statistic: Seventy percent of today’s youth (ages 17-24) are not eligible for military service, essentially due to a lack of proper education (basic reading and writing skills) or health issues (commonly obesity or diabetes).”

Th iPhone is a technological wonder, but it plays a part in culture that’s problematic, imo. I said, “plays a part,” not THE problem. A lot has changed since ’07 and it ain’t all good.

Maybe teacher’s unions are helping students NOT receive a proper education, especially if they have the goals of LAUSD, like…

“defunding of the police, they are demanding single-payer, government-provided health care; full funding for housing California’s homeless; a shutdown to publicly funded, privately operated charter schools; and a new set of programs to address systemic racism. To pay for all this, they want a 1 percent wealth tax, a 3 percent income surtax on millionaires, and increased property taxes on businesses. They also want $250 million from the federal government.”

Nothing like taking the focus off the ball (student’s edu achievement) I wonder if they lean right, or left? Are the citizens able to call it nutty regardless of their leaning? If not, maybe that’s a root of the problem. It’s nothing but destructive.
