Apple CEO Tim Cook on Thursday provided a statement to Axios regarding voting in the United States of America.

Cook’s statement:

The right to vote is fundamental in a democracy. American history is the story of expanding the right to vote to all citizens, and black people, in particular, have had to march, struggle and even give their lives for more than a century to defend that right.

Apple believes that, thanks in part to the power of technology, it ought to be easier than ever for every eligible citizen to exercise their right to vote.

We support efforts to ensure that our democracy’s future is more hopeful and inclusive than its past.

  1. MDN is correct to spotlight Jefferson’s adage but Rightwingers and NeoLibs do their best to thwart the voting by voters who don’t support Rightwing and NeoLib policies while bailing out Rightwingers with huge amounts because the latter can afford to give kickbacks while the poor pay their bills with the meager bailouts. You see, legislators get little lasting satisfaction from the non-upper class.

  2. Here are a few suggestions that I think would make voting more honest.

    1) No state should be allowed to report their vote results until all states have completed counting. Then they post the results at the same time.

    2) Your fingerprint should be scanned when you vote at a precint to verify that it wasn’t scanned at another precint.

    3) An effort should be made to make sure every US citizen has an ID and then require that ID when voting or write it on your mail in ballot.

    4) Voting machines are easy to hack and tinker with. Go back to paper.

    1. #s 1 & 4 support democracy; #s 2 & 3 support Jim Crow intended to disenfranchise folks who don’t donate to legislators. #2’s basic premise is that there was voter fraud. No. But there was election fraud and it was mostly perpetrated by Donald who told county officials to give him enough votes to beat Joe, and I don’t know how a new law can stop that kind of presidential election fraud because presidents are now nearly above the law; untouchable monarchs.

      1. #2 and 3 are in no way Jim Crow.

2 is an effective way to prevent cheaters from voting more than once in an election.

3 provides the millions and millions of people who have no ID a free ID. 3 also allows those millions without an ID to be able to get the COVID vaccine.

And the claim about Trump calling to find extra votes turned out to be more fake news from the billionaire and corporate controlled MSM.
